游戏的音乐包括“葬礼进行曲”、“欢乐颂”等9首音乐。游戏的音效一般，比不了当今的很多游戏，但比其它战略游戏还是强多了。

《文明：变革2》在游戏玩法上并没有多大的改变，玩家要从从人类文明之初一直到现代文明，建造自己的文明帝国。

游戏中保留了前作该系列世界历史上鼎鼎大名的领导人，如拿破仑、伊丽莎白女王，当然也有中国历史上两位领导人上榜，为了避免查水表这里就不明说了，玩家可以去游戏里面看看。除此之外，变革2新增了前英国首相丘吉尔和前美国总统肯尼迪两位领导人。
